The Great Bay Clean Up: Mapping & Cleaning Up Debris

It began with a conversation as part of the Social Indicators Project with a local sportsman and Greenland resident. He and his fellow duck hunters in the Great Bay Gunners were constantly picking up trash, debris and garbage as they walked along the shorelines of Great Bay and Little Bay. October 2015 Shots from the ‘Shed

A shot looking upstream in the Salmon Falls River at the newly improved Mast Point Dam Park in Somersworth. It’s worth a visit now that Timberland employees as part of their annual Servapalooza Volunteer Event built 8 picnic benches, a kayak rack and a stone dust trail along the banks of the river. PREP is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Estuary Program, a joint program between local, state and federal agencies established under the Clean Water Act with the goal of protecting and enhancing nationally significant estuarine resources. PREP is supported in part by an EPA matching grant and is housed within the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering at the University of New Hampshire.
