Natural Resources Outreach Coalition

Coordination. Communications. Outreach. Technical Assistance.

These are the tenets of the Natural Resources Outreach Coalition (NROC). In 1998, PREP, then called the NH Estuaries Project, coordinated NROC at the request of town leaders who asked for a ‘one-stop shop’ for outreach, communications and technical assistance for smart land use and natural resource protection efforts. The group includes ten different organizations who’s expertise is in planning, low impact development, facilitation and communications. Together the NROC team provides communities with a wealth of expertise and help.

In 2013, the NROC team reconvened with additional partners to focus on coordinated communications efforts aimed at stormwater pollution. The group is in its early stages of this new endeavor but it promises to provide even greater resources, help and action for communities as they face the increasing challenges and pressures of stormwater permits and overall water quality impairments.

PREP is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Estuary Program, a joint program between local, state and federal agencies established under the Clean Water Act with the goal of protecting and enhancing nationally significant estuarine resources. PREP is supported in part by an EPA matching grant and is housed within the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering at the University of New Hampshire.
