A Conversation About Buffer and Current Takings Law
Board Empowerment Workshop # 6 April 10th 4:30 – 6:30 PM

Join Christos Tsiamis, attorney and Great Bay National Estuarine Reserach Reserve’s municipal training specialist, for a conversatioin about how towns can implement stream buffer rules without triggering “takings” liability. From the Buffer Options for the Bay project, Christos will cover: (1) the current definition of a taking in New Hampshire; (2) how to set up your community’s municipal regulations to avoid takings claims; (3) how to talk about buffers with those in your community; and (4) relevant context from America’s founding philosophy.

As Sea Level Rises, Groundwater Does Too – What is at Risk?
NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup April 26th 5:00 – 7:45 PM

Join the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup for an evening with local researchers and community representatives to discuss how coastal groundwater will rise with sea level, and the impacts to water quality, infrastructure, and ecosystem health. Speakers include Jayne Knott and Dr. Jennifer Jacobs (UNH and the Infrastructure and Climate Network (ICNet)), Kyle Pimental (Strafford Regional Planning Commission), and Dale Pike (Newmarket Town Council).
