Affective Imagery, Risk Perceptions, and Climate Change Communication

Anthony Leiserowitz and Nicolas Smith

Imagery plays an important role in effective climate change communication. In a recent publication in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Climate Science researchers Leiserowitz and Smith report on an analysis of images American’s associate with climate change as well as the percentages of “Alarmists” and “Naysayers” in response to political changes (i.e. the rise of the Tea Party in 2010).

The article is available HERE for those with a subscription to Oxford Research Encyclopedias, or by sending an email to climatechange@yale.edu, with the subject line “Request Affective Imagery Paper.”
