Educator/Deckhand: The Gundalow Company seeks a passionate, self-motivated, flexible, organized team-player to work onboard the Gundalow “PISCATAQUA,” and on shore in a variety of educational roles. This position collaborates with all staff and crew and helps to implement our school programs, camps, public sails, charters, and events. Educators work up to 5 days a week with varying hours. Time of commitment runs from April 17th through October.
Summer Education Intern/Counselor: Our summer interns plan and run our growing camp both on the boat and on shore for kids ages 5-13. Our camps place heavy emphasis on environmental literacy and maritime history, and are rooted in experiential place-based education. Interns rotate through leading weekly camp programs and serve as supporting crew for other education programs, such as school sail courses. Interns will fulfill direct leadership roles, further developing competencies in: program planning, leadership, assessment, teamwork, communications, behavior management, and outdoor education. This is an exciting position with a supportive team, and opportunities to design and implement your own program ideas.

The Nature Conservancy
Seasonal Land Steward: Come explore the wilds of NH and work with us to manage The Nature Conservancy Preserves throughout the granite state. From salt marsh monitoring to maintenance of Accessible Trails, and lots in between, you’ll work in innovative ways with state-of-the-art tools in a collaborative fashion with AmeriCorps members, community volunteers, and conservation partners. The NH Seasonal Land Steward performs and participates in a wide variety of land management and stewardship tasks, including Preserve operations, maintenance and management, rare species or habitat monitoring, and communications with the public. Travel will be required throughout NH, and occasional longer field trips may be required, which may require overnight accommodations. This is a full-time 7-month position, 35-hrs per week, from May through November 2023 (flexible weekly schedule to accommodate long field days and occasional weekend volunteer activities).

Blue Ocean Society
Seasonal Blue Ocean Discovery Center Educator: This position is mainly a public education position that includes general maintenance of the Blue Ocean Discovery Center and exhibits. This position is ideal for high school or college students looking to gain experience in environmental education or marine biology-related fields but is open to anyone at least 16 years old. General responsibilities include; educate guests on Gulf of Maine species, environmental issues, and solutions, facilitate proper animal handling and respectful behavior at the touch tank, assist in animal care duties such as feeding and tank cleaning, maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Blue Ocean Discovery Center (BODC) exhibit and staff space, assist in beach cleanups as needed and pass out supplies to visitors, and other tasks, as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director of the BODC.
