Call for Applications: Great Bay Living Shorelines Project Design Teams

Interested in gaining real world experience designing living shorelines in New Hampshire? The University of New Hampshire, Great Bay NERR, and the NH Coastal Program are looking for applications from professional looking to gain hands-on experience with living shoreline design. Small teams will be selected and organized to learn about, and design living shoreline projects along the Great Bay Estuary.

Ideal candidates will be a mix of:

  • professional engineers,
  • ecologists,
  • restoration practitioners,
  • landscape designers, and
  • marine construction professionals based in New England.

Selected participants will be placed in groups by project team leads to ensure teams have diverse expertise. Each team will be paired with experienced scientists and professionals to offer support at every step.

Each participant will be expected to commit to 40-50 hours of total effort between July 2021 and April 2022. This will include: site visits around Great Bay, NH; learning events; time to work on a refine your design with your team; and a final presentation at a culminating program event. A small stipend is available for those who are able to accept it. Design team members will receive a Certificate of Attendance with project description, outcomes, and number of contact hours from the NH Living Shoreline Professionals Network.
