A Status and Trends Report

To help monitor the changes and stresses in our estuaries, PREP and our partners collect over 1 million data points annually. Every five years that data is published in the State of Our Estuaries report, a status and trends analysis of environmental, biological, and social indicators of estuarine and watershed health.

Since January 2022 the Technical Advisory Committee has been discussing each of the 21 indicators, reviewing the data from the last five years, analyzing trends, and outlining what the status and trends for each might means for future management.

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) serves as an advisory committee of experts to discuss and advise on technical, science-based issues related to the estuary program, State of Our Estuaries report, and the implementation of the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).

The TAC is open to all. Anyone who is interested or curious about the science and monitoring program for PREP is highly encouraged to participate. Contact Kalle Matso to be included on the email list: Kalle.Matso@unh.edu

Between now and the end of the summer, the TAC, PREP Management Committee, external experts, and PREP staff will be busy outlining, writing, editing, and working with designers to produce the 2023 State of Our Estuaries report.

Stay tuned for more details over the coming months including registration for the State of Our Estuaries Conference on December 9, 2022.
